The sons of Hester Lews and Fieldon Jacob Tipton
|
I am Ronald W. Tipton, a ninth generation American. My first American ancestor was Jonathan Tipton who arrived in this country in 1692 from Port Royale, Jamaica. Jonathan settled in Baltimore County, Maryland and lived to be 119 years old according to the Baltimore Gazette. Jonathan's grandson, known as "Major Jonathan Tipton" moved to "the wilds of North Carolina" after the Battle for the State of Franklin at Johnson City, Tennessee. Our line of the Tiptons are descended from Major Jonathan Tipton (23 Oct 1750 - 18 Jan 1833). Major Jonathan was married three times and had a total of 16 children. One of those children with his second wife Kesiah Robertson was Joseph Tipton (1796 - 1880). It has never been established that Major Jonathan was legally married to Kesiah Robertson. Joseph was married twice and had a total of 17 children. One of those children with his first wife Sarah Ann Bennett was John Tipton (1831 - 18 Nov 1863). John Tipton was killed by Confederate Ambushers while he was recruiting for Union forces in the mountains where he lived with his family. John was married once to Martha "Patty" Bailey and had a total of 10 children. His third child was Hiram Tipton (05 Mar 1852 - 1933). Hiram was my great-grandfather. Hiram had 9 children with his wife Myra Warrick. His fifth child was my grandfather, Fieldon Jacob Tipton (04 Jun 1884 - 08 May 1939). Fieldon and his wife Hester Lewis had 11 children, all sons. Their fifth son was my father Isaac Walter Tipton (18 Apr 1920 - 22 Aug 2000). Isaac married my Mother Betty Louise Hadfield (24 Dec 1923) November 2, 1940. They had three children, all sons of whom I am the eldest. My name is Ronald Walter Tipton and I was born November 8, 1941. I have no children.
